Wave is a spreading vibration , that brings energy from one
place to another place.
KINDS OF WAVE
Transverse wave
Longitudinal wave
Transverse wave is a wave that vibration direction in
perpendicular to spreading direction
Longitudinal wave is a wave that is propagated in
the same direction in which the propagation direction
QUANTITIES IN WAVE
The are several quantities in the wave , such as :
1. Wavelength
2. Period
3. Frequency
4. Amplitude
5. Wave velocity
Wavelength
Wavelength is distance travelled by one wave. Wavelength is symbolizied by with λ (read : lamda) with meter unit
There are have 2 kinds of wavelength :
1.Transverse wave
2.Longitudinal wave
In the transverse wave can be defined as distance between two adjacent wave peaks or distance between two wave bases consecutively , or distance of three bundles consecutively
In the longitudinal wave , wavelength is defined as distance between two adjacent compressions centre or distance between adjacent rarefactions centre.
Wave period is the time required to travel one wave .Wave period is symbolized with T and its unit is second (s).
Wave frequency is the number of wave happens in every second . Wave frequency is symbolized with f and its unit is hertz (Hz)
Wave velocity is the distance travelled by the wave in one second .
Wave velocity is symbolized with v and it unit is meter per second (m/s)
LENGTH,PERIOD,FREQUENCY,AND WAVE VELOCITY
Wave move travelling certain distance distance with certain velocity and travelling time.
According we can obtain relationship between wave velocity , wavelength , and wave period.
According to definition of wave velocity is obtained that :
Wave velocity:
distance which is gone through by wave
time to go
Because : f :1/T then :
v : λ . f
in which : v = wave velocity (m/s)
λ = wavelength(m)
T = wave period(s)
f = wave frequency(Hz)
